Samurai-Trooper|Anime
“Samurai-Trooper” is a TV animation series produced by Sunrise that ran for 39 episodes from 1988 to 1989.
Its catch copy is “Armor runs in my heart!” .
An army of monsters, led by the evil emperor Arago, set out to rule the human world. Standing in their way are five boys, the Samurai Troopers, who have been chosen as “Yoroi Gear” (armor gears). After a fierce battle, they plunged into Arashigo’s castle under the life-giving guidance of their master, Kaosu, and together they seemed to have defeated Arashigo at one time. However, the Yo-jaku reappears. In their pursuit of the secret of Armor Mimia, they learn that the only way to defeat Arashigo is to purify the “demon evil world” itself, which is powered by human “karma”.
The story is a life-size hero action film in which the main character boys fight wearing protectors, but it incorporates a Japanese taste in its worldview to differentiate it from previous works such as “Saint Seiya”. The storyline is also interspersed with the mystery of “Armor Mimia,” and the battles take place in various parts of Japan, creating ups and downs in the story. Although originally intended for boys, the naively portrayed main characters were supported by many women, and the voice actors who portrayed the characters also became very popular. The series became such a hit that it was featured in news programs, and an OVA series began in 1989.
In the late 1980s, “battle suit animation” was a huge commercial success, and “Samurai-Trooper” is one of the most representative of these works.
