It was serialised in the shojo manga magazine RIBON from 1995 to 1997, with a total of seven comics volumes.
The extra edition is linked to ‘Tenshi Nanka ja Nai’, a work by Ai Yazawa. Occasionally, ‘SLAM DUNK’ material has also appeared.
Synopsis
The main character Mikako Kouda is a first-year high school student at Yazawa Art Academy.
She attends the clothing design department and her dream is to become a designer and have her own brand shop.
Her childhood friend Tsutomu Yamaguchi, who lives next door in the same apartment building, has always been with her since birth, and although she likes him, she has never felt “in love” with him. Recently, however, Tsutomu becomes popular with the girls because he looks like the singer of a popular band.
Mikako finds herself being kissed and pestered by older girls, which she finds somewhat uninteresting.
They have been childhood friends and have lived in the same place all their lives, but when they start thinking about the future, they wonder if they should continue to live in this small world of just the two of them…
But when they start to think about their future, they wonder if they can continue to live in this small world of just the two of them…
This story is a coming-of-age graffiti that swings between their dreams, love and friendship.

“Neighborhood story” is a fascinating story, with the emotions of the characters being very well portrayed and the descriptive power of the story is very good. The characters’ personalities, from their fashion sense to their personalities, are well drawn. In the story, we sympathise with the characters as they face themselves, their friends and their goals, while struggling with deep lines and various problems.
The sadness and joy of love, which everyone experiences, and dreams are scattered with sparkles. The anime is good, but I want you to see the manga, where you can directly experience “Ai Yazawa”.
