“The Rising of the SHIELD HERO” is a Japanese anime series based on the light novel by Aneko Yusagi.
The first season aired from January to June 2019; production of the second and third seasons was announced in September 2019, with the second season (Season 2) airing from April to June 2022. The third season (Season 3) aired from October to December 2023; production of the fourth season (Season 4) was announced in January 2024 during an official radio broadcast.

Synopsis

The main character, Takafumi Iwatani, lives as an ordinary university student. One day, he picks up a novel titled “The Four Braves” at the library. While reading the book, he is suddenly summoned to another world.

In front of him is a world he has never seen before and three young men who have been summoned just like him.
The four of them, including Takafumi, were summoned as heroes chosen by the four armaments of “sword,” “spear,” “bow,” and “shield.

Among them, Takafumi was chosen as the “hero of the shield” and was charged with the mission of protecting people from the “nami” (wave) that threatens the world.

The “nami” (wave) is said to be “a calamity that leads the world to ruin,” a disaster that periodically overflows with demons and attacks people.

However, unlike other heroes from the beginning, Takafumi is limited by the fact that his equipment, a “shield,” has low offensive power and poor combat ability. Therefore, he is forced to find trustworthy companions and work with them to grow as he fights his enemies.

Takafumi is caught up in conspiracies, betrayed by his friends, and scorned by his country, but he finds trustworthy friends and goes on adventures with them, overcoming battles and difficulties as he grows in his own strength. He is sometimes troubled and frustrated, but in the process he grows and acquires the strength to become a true hero.
