Synopsis

The main character ‘Hitori Goto’ is an extremely shy and shy girl who always prefixes her conversations with ‘ah’. She starts playing guitar because she longs to be in a band, but she has no friends, so she spends her junior high school years playing guitar alone for six hours a day. She posts videos of her improved guitar playing on the internet as a ‘Guitar Hero’ and fantasises about performing at cultural festivals, but she finds herself in high school without a single friend, let alone finding a band member! “Bocchi the Rock!” is a typical band coming-of-age story, a high-quality, satisfying work that makes you laugh and enjoy it every time. It is a funny coming-of-age story full of negative thoughts, such as comedy elements that go off the rails into a gag or delusional world, and the development of overly concrete pessimistic fantasies about the future.
Even the drawings are interesting and entertaining with a great variety of expressions. The playful way in which the drawings are broken up is also funny here. But “Bocchi the Rock!” is not just funny.
The band performance scenes incorporate the movements of the actual players to create a realistic feel. More than the quality of the drawings, you can sense that a lot of time was spent on adjusting the sound and pictures to match, right down to the fingering of the guitar, which explains why many people say that the live performance is the best.
