Fruits Basket is based on the manga by Natsuki Takaya, serialized in “Hana to Yume” from 1998 to 2006. It was first adapted into an anime in 2001 and then fully re-adapted in 2019. The new adaptation was produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Yoshihide Ibata. The story follows Tohru Honda as she interacts with the cursed Sohma family, who transform into animals of the Chinese zodiac when hugged by the opposite sex. This series blends fantasy with human drama, delivering deep themes and heartwarming moments that have resonated with many fans.

High school student Tohru Honda, who has lost her mother and lives alone in a tent, is taken in by the mysterious Sohma family.
