“Dr.SLUMP” is the first work that made Akira Toriyama a major manga artist. It was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 1980 to 1984, and was published in 18 volumes. In April 1981, the series was adapted into an anime titled “Dr.SLUMP ARALE-chan,” which enjoyed a huge boom, recording the third-highest anime viewership rating of 36.9%. The popularity of the series spread due to the various attractions of Akira Toriyama, including the world setting, character design, and drawing ability.

In the story, the genius Dr.Norimaki Sembeh has perfected a girlish android named ARALE-chan. Norimaki Sembeh hides the fact that Arale is a robot and tries to raise her as his little sister. This is a hilarious comedy anime about the innocent, mischievous, and righteous Arale, and her encounters with her unique Penguin Village friends.
