“STEINS;GATE” is a Japanese adventure game released in 2009. An anime was broadcast on TV from 2011. It is part of the “Science Adventure” series, in which the main character, who has built a time machine, struggles to change the future.

Synopsis

The main character “Rintaro Okabe” is a mad scientist who calls himself the leader of a weak invention circle “Future Gadget Laboratory. He is a mad scientist who repeatedly makes clunky inventions day and night, and his circle mates get involved and make a fool of themselves. Rintaro Okabe named his new invention “Telephone Range” and showed it off to his circle mates. Okabe attends the presentation of one of his papers with his circle mates. Later, Okabe finds one of his circle mates collapsed at the presentation, and he hurriedly sends a text message to another circle member.
Immediately after sending the text message, Okabe is overcome by vertigo, and when he comes to his senses, he finds that an unidentified relic has crash-landed on the rooftop, and police with a grim look on their faces are coming and going. Okabe’s confusion is compounded by the fact that the email he sent just before was dated a week earlier.

Later, after confiding in his circle mates about his strange experience, Okabe discovered that the telephone range he had invented was a time machine that could send cell phone e-mails back in time.
Okabe named it “D-mail,” and predicted that each time he sent a message to the past, the world line would shift and the past of those who read it would be altered.
However, the principle of retaining only Okabe’s memories is unknown. Okabe, who has unexpectedly achieved a great invention that rewrites human history, repeats the D-mail experiment with his circle mates.
The seemingly cheerful circle members each have their own pasts they want to redo, and Okabe’s proposal is a godsend.
However, as they continue their experiments, the slightest modification has a huge ripple effect, twisting the future history of humankind.
By the time they realized it, it was already too late. Important people disappeared as a result of rewriting the past through experiments, the world was devastated by a succession of wars and terrorist activities, and humanity was on the verge of extinction.
Okabe, the only person in this world who retains the memories of the world line, can he stop the disappearance of his beloved ones and restore the history of mankind?
